Biography

Mary was born. not going to mention the year.... in Providence, RI. From an early age, Mary would listen to the Carpenters and take out the broomstick and pretend it was a microphone and sing along with Karen. This went on for years. Finally at the age of 16, Mary picked up a guitar and started writing her own songs. This lasted a long time, (still going on). She would sing in high school, friends' houses, softball fields, almost anywhere people would let her play.

In 1985, she entered the world of law enforcement and became a Providence police officer, where she still works today. After 20 years of service, Mary is currently a Lieutenant serving as District Commander in the Patrol Bureau.

Mary performed with a trio, "Mary, Fred and Terry" for almost ten years. They recorded their first cassette, entitled "Second Wind" in 1993. In 1994, a fellow police officer, Sgt. Steven Shaw was killed in the line of duty. Mary was asked to sing at his funeral and wrote the song "St. Michael by Your Side" in honor of Steven. The song was recorded as a single and released. The proceeds of the cassette sales go to the Sgt. Steven Shaw Fund. In 1995, Mary was asked to perform at the National Law Memorial the song "St. Michael" in front of a crowd of over ten thousand (10,000).

In 1996, Mary released her first solo album entitled "Open Fields" which contains twelve of her original songs. In 2001, Mary released her second CD entitled “Always” .

Mary performs solo, or as a duo with longtime friend Terry Wood on Keyboards. In 2004, drummer Cathy McNeil joined Mary and Terry and they perform as a trio, where space allows. The trio are a local favorite at Deville's, Copperfields and Pride. Mary continues to sing wherever she can performing her originals and the top cover tunes.
